Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technique that involves inserting fine needles into the skin at specific points to treat health problems: 
Acupuncture is based on the idea that an invisible life force called "qi" flows through the body along meridians. When qi is blocked or unbalanced, illness occurs. Acupuncture aims to restore balance to qi and encourage the body to heal itself. 
Acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain, but it can also help with other conditions, including: 
Chronic pain, Migraines, Headaches, Low back pain, Neck pain, Osteoarthritis, and Knee pain.
Acupuncture has been practiced for at least 2,500 years, but has only recently become popular in the West. It's considered a low-risk treatment, but possible side effects include: 
•	Bleeding, bruising, and soreness at the insertion sites
•	Infection from unsterilized needles
•	In rare cases, a needle may break and damage an internal organ
